My anger blows like a windstorm
at times out of nowhere
or everywhere at once
Sometimes it’s just a whisper, never far from reach
It snaps at me when I’m disappointed
full of judgment or unforgiving
I bristle when criticized
run to my own defense like a teen child
getting caught with the goods
Oh Lord, heal me of this tendency
The gloom that darkens my spirit
when I can’t let go
Wash me with your purity of heart
that I too may shine your light
everywhere and through all things
past the clouds that surround me
and into the valleys
Forgive me my weaknesses
And help me forgive the weaknesses of others
