Jacaranda

Blueberries are really purple

but their hue can’t compare

with the tiny trumpet flowers

that drift silently

from the Jacaranda canopy

onto the green of damp morning grass

Their confetti is the color of royalty

with a fragrance named fresh

think lavender, think restful

Many reverence the blooms

Others see a mess that needs raking

We get to choose
